After trying some places on Dauphin Island we decided to try our luck at a place in Gulf Shores when we visited Fort Morgan.
Food was DELICIOUS and worth the money paid. Far from "cheap" at $18-$50 a plate depending on what you order but we left FULL. Unlike other places we spent similar amounts of money and walked away hungry. In the photos below the "empty" spot on the sample platter is where the corn and potatoes were when served...that dish was based on "current market prices"-with 2 types of shrimp and crab legs. The alfredo plate was a kids plate-she didn't care for the sauce but her sister did so if you have a picky eater avoid that.
Service was great, Friendly and fast.
Will definitely make this a place we return to!

We have been coming to Gulf Shores for 23 years (give or take a year or 2 here and there) and we have never eaten at King Neptune’s until last night. Let me tell you this place is a gem! We are going back tonight and will always make a point to eat here again when in Gulf Shores.

Chargrilled oysters - good!
Sautéed crab claws- best we ever had!
Blackened Shrimp Tacos -delicious!
Shrimp and Grits- some of the best we’ve eaten (and we’ve eaten a lot in the southern US)
Sampled the crab and corn bisque and seafood gumbo. Both good but we thought the seafood gumbo was some of the best we ever ate.
Homemade key lime - had to get this to go and ate later! Delicious!!

It was great to talk to the owners as they made you feel right at home.
And let me tell you about Jay, our server! He was excellent! He told us all about the food and brought us samples. He was such fun and a treat to be around! Be sure to ask for Jay when you visit! We watched all the servers there and they all did a great job!

Thanks King Neptune's Seafood Restaurant for the great food and conversation!

Skip the 2 hour wait everywhere else and go here! Great menu, reasonable prices, friendly service. The shrimp and grits and gator bites appetizer (blackened) were our fave dishes of those we ordered.

Cam in around 3 for a late lunch. No wait. Food and service was good. We got a cup of gumbo, the ribeye special, butterfly and coconut shrimp baskets and the steamed seafood sampler. I would definitely recommend the sampler.

This is not the first visit we’ve had to King Neptunes, but I have to say it’s the worst.

To begin with, there wasn’t a wait to get a table, but there was an unfortunate wait to get our food.

Our server may have had a rough day — I’m not sure — but that translated to poor service. We waited fifteen minutes to even see our server, fifteen minutes to have our drinks dropped off, and easily thirty minutes to get our food… when other tables were getting theirs with speed and ease. As someone who works in food service, I certainly would have considered the kitchen times. This wasn’t that, truly I think we were forgotten.

But… the kitchen wasn’t the greatest either. I’m not sure what’s changed, but their food was bland, my PoBoy was missing lettuce and tomato, and it took multiple asks for remoulade for the sandwich.

The flounder wasn’t seasoned. The tartar was good, though!

All in all, I’m bummed that it wasn’t a better meal. It’s always been excellent before. If they manage to stay in business (and I hope they do), we’ll try again one day.

My family and I were cruising around looking for a spot to eat dinner. We noticed King Neptune's after passing by and decided to go back and give them a try. We were all very pleased with this decision. We started out with hush puppies which were good. The entrees is where they really shined and surprised us. I went with the shrimp and fish platter, the wife with grilled grouper, daughter with alfredo, and son with catfish. The food was well cooked, but the seasoning is what made it excellent. This was one of our best meals while in the area and definitely warrants a return visit.

Terrible way to run a business. We ate here with our 5 young kids. After we ordered, we heard the table next to us ordering food we didn’t see on the menu. When they were finished, we turned and asked them. They said it was a lunch menu. When we mentioned this to server, they said we have to request it. Our food had already started. So we paid for more expensive kids meals with barely any food, no drink, etc. our bill went from probably $60 to $120. Then after a week of eating out with two adults, five kids (2 of which don’t even eat) we were charged as a party of 6 or more. They only place we have every been charged that for. It means nothing to them, losing us as customers in future. We don’t drink and party it up. We are trying to enjoy a trip with 5 young kids and still give them experiences. Regardless, you should do what is right and treat people the right way. Terrible moral compass at this place. Give your business elsewhere!!!

So we were so excited to eat here had ate here few years ago and was looking very forward to it. Food was good except for couple things. But the reason I’m leaving this review is the service and management. They add gratuity 18% for 6 or more. There was a total of 10 of us but we didn’t get to sit next to each other and we were on 3 different tickets so we asked waitress would there be a gratuity she said no since we weren’t sitting with each other and we were on different tickets. ( I don’t like places that have gratuity I like to leave my own tip on job well done) but still we were having pretty good time even tho we had to wait almost 3 hours start to finish. Then we asked for boxes etc and she went on break. Then we get our check gratuity was added. So then a different waiter that we hadn’t even had comes to pick up check and we nicely explained that our waitress said we wouldn’t be charged gratuity and he says he is her husband and had been conversating with her and knew the situation. ????? What. He says she couldn’t have done that. So we ask to speak to manager he comes back and says the manager sent him out there. So I asked a bus boy to get the manager, she then comes out we explain to her and told her and said if she would have only came out at anytime while we were there and explained that she couldn’t waive it that would have been fine and we would have understood but hiding and sending some one out that claims to be her husband to bully us was not the way to handle it. Then our aunt tells the manager that this wasn’t our first time there did she not care if we came back because we didn’t like being lied to and manager shakes her head no. So buyer beware. But the bus boys were a 5 star all the way and entertaining. So they got right at $60 in tip off us together so some lessons are hard but it will be the last dollar they get from us.
