This place is so great. The people who work there were very nice. The food was AWESOME. We had a fishing trip that morning and were referred by Bobby Ray Cagle who was our fishing guide (which was also awesome). We handed over our fish on ice. They cooked them up perfectly! We had some blackened, some fried, and some grilled. Our favorite was the grilled and they were TOP KNOTCH. Our waitress was also a very sweet young pretty girl. She and her Co workers made my son happy and proud of the big fish he caught. I have nothing but positive things to say about today. Thank you for making my son's birthday trip even more memorable for him. Priceless memories.

My gosh do I love this place, the portions were big, the food was fresh it felt like a really family atmosphere.
I love these old established places that still turn out wonderful food. we will certainly go there again next time when we are in Gulf Shores Alabama!!
don't miss out on this place it may not be flashy but it's wonderful

I’m not a seafood fan, but they had plenty of other options. The lunch prices are incredible, especially considering you get complimentary tea and bread. The chicken tenders were fabulous and the mac&cheese is out of this world. My husband really enjoyed the fried shrimp. Next time I’ll be trying the steamed veggies! Our server was so friendly and welcoming. They mentioned they will be closed during the hangout music festival and renting parking spaces instead.

As much as I would to give DeSoto's 5 stats because a handful of people have said it was good I just can't. We ate there in late April and it was not busy at all and the service was not great at all. Our server literally came around to bring food and the bill. When they gave the bill they refilled our waters that were empty for much of the time. When the server filled the water he spilled a bunch of ice and water from the pitcher on us and our table. The food was ok but I had better from other places in the area. The last thing is the 3% credit card charge! They automatically add it on to your bill and I think also add sales tax to it. The way they added it to the bill in the end and I had to ask about what the cash price would be made me a bit irritated.
Others may really enjoy this place but this was my experience in April of 2023. I really had higher expectations of DeSoto's until we finally ate there and it was nowhere close to what I thought.

I tried to go here last night for dinner, but I was told it was going to be a two hour wait, so I decided to go today for lunch. And now I know why they are always packed! I ordered the broiled seafood platter, which was a flounder fillet broiled almondine style, broiled shrimp and broiled scallops, black eyed peas and french fries. It was all incredibly tasty, served quickly and hot. I highly recommend them for a quality and affordable seafood meal!

The food was excellent, this is really a good, good seafood restaurant. The servings are huge and delicious. The service is great and their knowledge of their job is excellent. The place is very clean, and I felt comfortable almost like being at home. I recommend this place to all.

Out of town on business we decided to give a place a try.

Although there was a 30 minute wait, it was well worth the time and the bars open and you can drink in the parking lot while you wait lol.

My wife ordered the royal red shrimp, and I had the fried seafood plate. Neither one was disappointing. Although it was a fried plate, the food was not greasy at all and had an exceptional flavor.

The Royal reds, well there's no shrimp better.

The restaurant itself is somewhat simplistic in its layout and decor, but the service was outstanding and for the most part considering how busy it was was very clean.

There is plenty of parking and it is handicap accessible.

We ate here for the first time after having it recommended. We were a party of 4. Things were confusing but the food was great.

Cons - sat at a table then were moved across the restaurant, server feeling the need to fix the table from wobbling while we were sitting and in the middle of ordering, super crowded and tight dining room. Alfredo was cold, both shrimp and chicken. Small portions on appetizers and sides.

Pros - not a long wait, grilled catfish and grilled chicken breast were fabulous as well as the alligator bites.
