We love the barrio queen… Our server Marissa was amazing and friendly…the food was amazing and and the presentation impeccable! We sat outside on the patio and had the whole patio to ourselves that felt like an island oasis… Thank you to management for making such our experience so much fun!

We have been to a few Barrio Queens across the Phoenix area. First time at this Avondale location. A must try is the chile en nogada it's a different take on your typical chile relleno. This chile nogada is a stuffed pepper with meat... I'm not sure if it's chicken or pork covered in a creamy sweat sauce topped with pomegranate. The micheladas are super yummy and come with a tamarindo wrapped straw. We sat at the bar, and the service was great. Our bartender was very attentive. Overall experience was a 10 out of 10. The only thing I will mention is whoever wiped down the menus must have used an old rag or last night water bucket because they had a smell to them. We didn't make a fuss about it just used their online menu.

Beware! Very poor service at this location. My wife and I went here on Friday afternoon April 14 at 130pm for lunch. There was only two other couples sitting on outside patio where we were sitting. Inside the restaurant were about 3 or 4 total tables occupied, so it was not busy at all. After about 10 minutes waiting for a server, a lady finally approached to ask us if we wanted water or a beverage. We ordered and then received tortilla chips and salsa after about 10 more minutes. We waited for another 10 minutes for anyone to serve or help us. No server to be found. What we did see was two tables on the patio where the customers had left and the dishes and glasses remained in tables, so there was no one bussing tables once customers departed. I walked over to the bar where only one couple was sitting. Next to them on the bar were several empty, used beverage glasses and plates left there as well. I asked the bartender about the beverages we ordered some 20 minutes ago. She asked me what I ordered. When I told her that our server ordered the drinks at least 20 minutes earlier, she could only say "what do you want?", no apology or other question. At this point we just left.
We were there a total of 35 to 40 minutes only to receive chips/salsa, no beverages. We walked across the way to eat at Parry's, the adjacent restaurant. From our patio table outside we could still see the patio area we left. It was another 25 minutes after we left looking over to the their patio area for someone to pickup and remove the chips/salsa we left. The dirty/used dishes and glasses on the other tables were 'still sitting there'. I was so amazed, I walked over to take a few pics of the abandoned tables.
We surely do NOT recommend anyone to frequent or eat at this restaurant. They essentially either don't care, or really dislike their jobs. We have eaten at the Barrio Queen several times at the 'Scottsdale' location and enjoyed our experience.

My 2nd time here. I had a gift card for my birthday to use. The decor is beautiful and I was looking forward to dinner only to be disappointed.
The Elote was dry and not much toppings, I make better at home.
The Pasole was too dark in color and again, can make better at home.
The beef short rib birrias, were not as good as before when I was there. Not much cheese.

The best part was the Guacamole which they did give extra for us having to wait so long for our food.

I thought it was perfect. My server Shannon was helpful and sweet and very attentive. I had the Machaca and egg skillet (I was told was brand new to the menu in fact I was the first to order it) it was delicious. The ambiance of the place was artistic and lively. Thank Barrio Queen and Shannon for a great dining experience.

I recently visited Barrio Queen for their DJ-hosted brunch and had a fantastic time! The music and vibes were on point, creating a fun and lively atmosphere. My partner and I both ordered the Arizona burrito and it was simply delicious - the flavors were bold and satisfying. Overall, we had a great experience at Barrio Queen and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a fun time.

Dinner at the Barrio Queen was amazing as always. Live music sweetly sung while eating a meal is special and very enjoyable. Great time tonight, thank you to the entire staff!

Food:
I got the queso starter (very good)
I got the 3 birria enchiladas that comes with beans and rice. I opted for the chorizo refried beans (very good) and for some reason it came with steamed veggies instead of rice. I was confused but I'm not gonna send food back lol it was tasty enough but I left it on my plate as the flavor was too different from the rest of the meal.
Enchiladas were good as well.

Service:
This place was pretty dead, we stood up at the front waiting to be seated for a solid 5min before anyone came by.
The hostess that finally showed up was very awkward and quiet. I'm assuming she's probably new, but it was awkward none the less.

Waitress was very sweet and attentive, overall I enjoyed my experience much more at the arrowhead location and will probably just go there from now on.
