Whoever said the dipping oil was bland (and gross? It’s actually not) obviously has nothing better to do but complain. It was one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth. This is the type of restaurant where you can tell heart and passion is put into making the amazing food and drinks. The Nonna’s lasagna was so rich I could only take a few bites. I also tried the cannelloni (pictured) and it was life changing. The tomato basil soup was simple, but creamy and flavorful. The waitress was so great and helped break down the menu for me. My parents just moved to the area and we’ve decided this is our new go-to spot. I couldn’t believe I found negative reviews for this place. I can’t wait to try the yummy-looking deserts next time.

We've tried Joe's Italian and it was amazing. We just discovered this location, owned by the same family. My wife started with the tomato basil soup and I got the salad, both were great. We both got the Keto lasagna and it was absolutely delicious. They use eggplant to replace the lasagna noodles and it was just right. I don't frequent many Italian restaurants because I'm trying to avoid carbs, but I didn't miss a beat with this dish. I splurged and ate 4 or 5 pieces of their bread with oil. It was worth every single carb ???? We also split a piece of strawberry cheesecake that was awesome as well. We'll be adding this to our places to revisit when in the area. Kudos to the staff. Very friendly and attentive.

I was very impressed with this restaurant. The lasagne had a very good taste and homemade lasagna noodles. The fried cheese ravioli were also made with fresh homemade pasta. Mabry was very helpful and always smiled.. Mabry had great customer service. The only issue we had here was trying to pay for our food. The girl that tried to check us out kept getting upset bc the waitress was still in the ticket she said. She kept huffing and puffing and leaning on the register all though it said not to lean on it. After about 10-15 minutes of standing in the front we finally got to pay our check. I would highly recommend trying this place.

Fast casual with white table cloths.
First time visiting Bertolone’s. The food was really good. Portion sizes were enough for dinner and lefts overs. Server was really friendly! We’ll be back.

Wish I could say good things about the food at Bertolone’s in Calera. First off-the oil dip was bland and gross, the bread was even worse! I cannot express how terrible the bread was. Shortly after ordering we asked if the temp could be lowered because it was balmy and uncomfortable in the building (should have walked out at that point). A short while later a woman approached and explained they had the back door open because they had burned a sandwich twenty minutes earlier.

The meatballs appetizer and the tomato soup were the best parts of our meal. The hubs ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken-there was no chicken when it was put on the table. I ordered the cannelloni, def not very good, was bland and neither dish was hot. We ordered a pizza and made the mistake of opting for fresh tomatoes, the slices were a half an inch thick!

The bartender stood at the table next to ours talking 95% of the time talking to another couple. Like-let them eat already, I didn’t need to know his life story. *Server was nice though*

Very very expensive meal! Left disappointed, hot (wish the food had been as hot as the room) and extremely annoyed.
Lesson learned, will not go back again!

We always stop here if we make a trip to Birmingham. The food is always great.
To us the cakes seem dry so we stick with dinner with lots of bread. ????

It was a cold Friday night and we waited 45 minutes for a table and it was well worth it!!!
Everything we had tasted homemade and homemade in a good way. Also the portions were large we were able to get another meal the next night. My husband had the other soup and I can’t remember what it was but he said it was the best he ever had!

My husband suggested this place after hearing about it on the radio. It did not disappoint. The place was clean, the service was great, and the food was delicious. Portions are huge! My kids were asking to come back before finishing their dinner. We'll definitely come back when we get the chance.
