The cutest stop near Girdwood / Anchorage! This place is family owned and the owners enjoy what they do, and they love sharing the history! They were very kind and helpful with our children as they paned for gold. I love the little trucks and diggers around for our little ones to play while their older siblings look for gold. The store has very unique finds, from bear claws, feathers, hand crafted tools, moccasins, jewelry and more! Just a really cool place and one you don’t want to miss!

My two boys and niece had the best time here!!! Absolutely an amazing place and experience for kids. Super kid friendly! The owner was the nicest lady ever. 10/10.

I visit Indian Valley every year, from childhood to adult hood. I’m so thankful I get to bring my kids here to make more memories. The owner will show you the ropes and your the property with you if you haven’t been there before! The best part, this place is KID FRIENDLY. Kids attention spans are catered to here, whether they want to gold pan, play with the Tonka trucks in the dirty, or look at the animals hanging around. The owner was so respectful and thankful that we brought our kids out to play! Every more reason to keep visiting this wonderful place. WE ALSO SCORED GOLD, granites, quartz, and beautiful memories.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The family owners were incredible. They even won over my shy kids! Thank you for helping to make our Alaska visit even more special.

Had a fantastic time here! My daughter had a great time learning how to pan for gold with Matilda and my son played with all the toy dump trucks for at least an hour. The view with the railroad coming by was beyond beautiful. Thanks for such a great time!

Very cool family owned experience. Owners were very sweet and tolerant of our three rowdy children (they even had a fleet of tonka trucks for our impatient preschooler to play with rocks while we panned with the older two kids). They knew a ton and were super helpful. Definitely recommend!!

Cool little family owned business. You can pan for gold here but the material comes from a lode mine elsewhere. The dirt comes in plastic jugs in $10, $20 or $100 size. Once your purchase the jug, one of the workers will take you to a tub of water and teach you how to pan. You are guaranteed to get some gold from your dirt, but no guarentee on how much.

There are also a gaggle of turkeys, ducks and chickens on the property. They were penned up when we got their but the owner let them out when we were done panning. All the birds were friendly as can be and the turkeys even used one of us as a pole to chase the other turkey around.

There is a gift shop where you can buy a pan, gold items, moose antlers for your dog to chew on and more. All (three) of the workers we encountered were genuinely nice people and were friendly and fun to engage with.

Hours are 10am to 6pm daily. Located about 20-25 minutes south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway. Nice little tourist spot, highly recommend checking it out especially if you have kids!

Wow!! What a wonderful “gem” on the side of the highway just 20 minutes south of Anchorage. Don’t pass this little place up. The couple who run it Roger and Arlene are wonderful people and gave us a FREE tour of their property and history of this historic site. So interesting! Stop and take the time and listen, you won’t regret.

They have beautiful views, and the small friendly animals running around add to the charm. So many little unique souvenirs. They taught us how to pan for gold, and we took home some souvenirs of gold and other gems that we actually panned ourselves. Definitely a highlight of our time in Alaska.
