RV sites are small and unlevel. The bathroom is disgusting - it’s dirty, there’s no hot water and in the morning there was no toilet paper and no paper towels because the door stays open all night and it seems to be a community wide bathroom. Campground is loud and apparently there are no quiet hours. Wi-Fi only works on the porch. Store staff were as helpful as they could be given the circumstances. It seems like the owner doesn’t put many resources into the RV part of the business. Store is well-stocked.

Nice and quiet location on the Hope Hwy. Plumbed cabins available for rent and RV sites with full and partial hook ups. There is a small market and liquor store on site, which means there is a bit of come and go traffic during business hours. Located about 1/4 mile from "downtown," it is easily within walking distance though there are no sidewalks and the shoulder is narrow in some parts. The cabins were clean, in fact when a guest checked out, I could smell the Fabulouso just walking by outside.

We stayed at the Rv lot they have full hook ups very quiet peaceful setting ! Definitely will be returning the staff was very friendly courteous professional . They do have can cabins you can rent with wifi . The only down side is wifi basically nonexistent for the Rv parking they do tell you that upfront ! They are pet friendly that’s a plus for us !

This is a three-part review of the town, the lodge, and the cabins.

The Town: We learned the hard way that the town is closed on Tuesdays. Like, completely. And it's still mostly closed on Wednesday. You have one option to eat; and it's overpriced and unsatisfactory. Second, even on a non-Tuesday, there's very little to do outside of camping. As someone who just did a whirlwind scenic tour of Alaska, I can confidently state there are far better places to do that (Seward for one nearby).

The lodge: Instead of camping we stayed at the lodge above the general store. The rooms smelled stale, there was no climate control so the room was 80 degrees, the windows were adorned with curtains that were nearly transparent (making the room non-dimmable) and the curtain rod was broken causing them to fall down in the middle of the night, there was no Internet, no satellite TV, the shower door was broken, and the overhead fan blades were such that they had no throw (no air movement despite being on high). For the rate charged, $150/night, I can only recommend this room in a dire pinch. Fixing the ceiling fan, shower door, and installing room darkening curtains with blinds would be significant improvements that would warrant a second chance. Regardless, travelers beware: Do NOT stay in Hope on a Tuesday.

The Cabins: The other half of my party was "upgraded" after the lodge was double booked; so they were given a cabin at no additional charge. They were disappointed. The window was broken and the ceiling fan was falling out of the ceiling (it was woefully out of balance and had jerked loose of the mount); therefore, it was unusable. The room was a one-bedroom with a futon but the futon had no linens. Lastly, the coffee pot still had used grounds in it, leaving everyone wondering what else wasn't clean inside the room. Well, that question was answered after discovering a dirty spoon inexplicably left on the heater....in the living room.

I do not recommend the town, the lodge, or the cabins.

This place is fun, it's the new Heart Beat of Hope AK. Some folks say its expensive, but they are not taking into consideration the logistics it requires to get supplies to a fairly remote area on the peninsula. Prices are perfectly adequate for last minute grabs. Great local activities, very, very nice staff! The RV park is fun welcoming and Kind! A great Weekend getaway from the Anchorage Grind!

My boyfriend and I were staying at the Porcupine campground just a short way from Alaska Dacha and it really was a life saver. The owner and the employees were incredible and really helped us out - even finding shampoo for us to use, which was great because I had forgot mine and saved me some money. The showers were in a spacious room with a large mirror, sink and toilet. A basic token shower that did the job great. Very good. Both times we showered they were spot on and a good use of $6 a go. We also used their laundry whilst there, which was a big help. The washer was 30 mins long and the dryer was 45 mins. Both a few dollars each. Cheap and worth every penny. Lovely place with a great vibe and super convenient. Their little mini grocery store is very well stocked too. Id be back any day.

We actually stayed at the RV park next door, but had dinner at the lodge restaurant which was very good. The lodge looks like a very nice place .
