We enjoyed our stay here. The owner is very nice and helpful. He gave us a map of the town and recommended places to eat and see. The rooms are nice and comfortable and very quiet. The architecture is amazing built in 1902 as an army base.

Lots of potential but. Generally felt worn out.. not historic in a good way. tall ceilings. Coffee in AM was great.
Bed was musty smelling.

Stayed overnight on July 4th. We were in room 4. Historic hotel had everything we needed. Beautiful views, no noise issues, great location proximity to the dock, fast reliable wifi, good water pressure in bed and sinks, mini fridge, lobby provided coffee and tea, clean towels, and comfy/clean bed. Room was a decent size for two and the hotel included some other cool features, exposed piping in ceiling, puzzles to add to in the lobby, and some tiling near the fireplace. Jeff, was super helpful with some advice on things going on in town. Thanks!

Just an overview of the car rental experience, Jeff representing Avis car rental at the hotel was awesome and really saved us with a last minute rental car experience! He was so helpful and responsive. Car was great and ran smooth. Highly recommend renting from him and not the other place in town!

Very nice and the internal design is superb. A few-minutes walk to the riverside. Beautiful scenery.

They owner is very polite and helpful; he gave me a whole lot of suggestions about hiking destinations and local eateries.

Jeff Butler, the proprietor, is super nice, with good personal service. The Halsingland is a rustic old Colonial Revival hotel that used to be the turn-of-century officers quarters on Fort William H Seward. Rooms are spacious. No breakfast offered, the old dining room has since closed , but there is a single serve coffee dispenser available for your use in the lobby. The north side of the hotel has good solid , fast internet.
It was fun to get to know Jeff, and his Avis rental actually has cars available, unlike Juneau!

I went on a solo trip down to Haines and the place is absolutely adorable and so historic it was so quiet and relaxing. I got an amazing view from my room which made it even better. The gentleman at the desk was so friendly and helpful.

I have stayed at the Halsingland many times and enjoyed each stay. The owner Jeff goes above and beyond for his guests. Photo attached is a view from the room. What a special place!
