Delicious Filipino home cooking in a cozy atmosphere, worth a detour off the beaten path!

I read about Valley Restaurant in an Eater article on Filipino/Tlingit cooking that said this is the best place to try the Alaskan style of home-cooked chicken adobo. Let me tell you I was not disappointed!

It was a chilly, rainy day and the meal began with a super comforting arroz caldo that felt like a warm hug. This was followed by our order of lumpia that were perfectly crispy and not greasy.

Then came the main event: the chicken adobo and fried rice. The chicken has to be some of the best I have ever eaten. Cooked on the bone and bathed in tangy broth, It could not have been more tender and juicy. I went for the upgrade to the fried rice with the meal and it was also excellent.

My partner ordered the Chinese noodles without meat. It was a steamy bowl of tasty broth, noodles, and bok choy. Another perfect choice for a chilly day!

The restaurant itself is more or less the sort of roadside diner I grew up with. Booth seating and a big breakfast menu. A stuffed bear greets you at the door.

This is a true locals joint and everyone is friendly. The chef/owner came out and talked to everybody. She beamed with the deserved pride of bringing such pleasure to her friends and patrons.

All in all Valley Restaurant is well worth the detour off you're passing through Juneau and heading out for a hike at Mendenhall Glacier.

If I find my way back to Juneau, I will make it my goal to come back to Valley Restaurant.

I love this place. The food is always great. The staff are wonderful - they are like family. They make everyone feel at home. It's just a warm, comfortable atmosphere. I gave the atmosphere a 4 only because I wish the space was bigger. I've dined in, and done take out. And it doesn't matter what meal you order, you can be sure it will be good.

Great staff, the owner is like everyone's grandma. So sweet and welcoming.
The food is great, wide selection. Breakfast and lunch for all diners.
Valley Burger Dip is my go to, so good, every time.

Way better and cheaper than Donna's. The service was excellent and love that they include coffee with the price of food. If we're ever back in Juneau we will stop by. Loved that they had the NFL network on, love watching highlights during breakfast. Parking is an issue but whatever, baby Jesus gave you legs for a reason.

The Valley Restaurant is open early for breakfast and has timely service in a dine in format. The food was freshly cooked and served hot and coffee was tasty. They do serve Filipino style food and also comfort food. This restaurant can accommodate a large group, especially after church on Sunday, although anyone who has mobility issues would have a challenge to be seated. The staff does work to get people service that are in wheelchairs. It was enjoyable to have a meal here and visit with my friend.

This place is great! I enjoy how cozy and relaxing the atmosphere is. The food is excellent and at a very fair price compared to other places.
