Received a letter saying my meter box had been destroyed from what looked like a lawnmower, and that I was responsible for paying it. They already changed it over and now my normal 80 bill will be around 300. Uh why do we pay taxes in this city if not to have the money to do this?!?! Funny part of the story my yard Hadden been bit this summer yet I did it just 3 days ago and my meter box was covered and fine!

Ardmore Water Dept. says they never received my check this month. Rather than send a notice of pending disconnection, they cut off your water. Came home from work to no water. I immediately looked at the online payment portal and paid the amount due, which at this point was last months and this month, as the billing cycle ended yesterday. I paid them $150+. My wife called the number to have after hours reconnection; expensive, but money is not the issue. The lady on the phone advised that the full amount due $150+ as well as a reconnection fee ($40) and a after hours service fee ($55) would all have to be paid ($253) to the guy who came to remove the lock. The payment we had just paid will be “credited to our account”. So, with an average water bill of $60, we’ve just had to pay $400 in an afternoon because of a single missed payment. A single missed payment, after years of service with these people. Why can’t second notices be sent? The amount we pay doesn’t allow for a second postcard? What a pitiful establishment.

Just not good. Terrible customer service and organization. They made a mistake and then did not help to correct the situation. I will also be reporting this to the BBB.

On Tuesday, 7/7/2020, I paid my water services bill online as I have for the past 15 months. On Thursday, 7/9/2020, they credited my account the amount of the bill. Keep in mind that this is not a return, or NSF, it's a credit. They did not send an email, text, letter, or make a phone call to inform me. On Monday, 8/3/2020, I went to pay my next bill and that's when I was informed that I had not paid the July bill. Thinking I must have made a mistake, I went ahead and paid the July bill, again, along with a late fee, and the August bill. After I paid the bill, and on the same day, they shut off the water. As it was night, I had to wait until the next day to visit their location to get this rectified. On Tuesday, 8/4/2020, I received my bill in the mail. After showing them my bank transactions proving I paid the bill and that they had credited it back to my account, explaining that I was not notified in any form, telling them that the water was shutoff before even receiving the next bill and after I had paid all of the bill owed, including their error, they still made me pay the $40 re-connection fee for THEIR error.

To recap, the Ardmore Water System made a mistake, didn't inform me, didn't give me a chance to even see next bill, before shutting off my water and charging me a $15 late fee, and a $40 re-connection fee.

My bank account was compromised and I was unable to pay. I called this morning to check and see when cut off was and they said the list had already gone out. Nothing they could do. I promised to be there first thing in the morning with pmt because my money was to be released tonight at midnight. They absolutely refused to do anything. I have a five year old and they don't care.

I'm calling the better business bureau Today. I am a veteran of the us army and I've lived in Georgia, north and south Carolina, Virginia, New York, Texas to name a few and have never, EVER had the experience I've had with these folks.. they overcharge and are just plain dirty.. I was late yesterday, i receive a monthly check and wasn't paid until 2-3-2020 so I called and explained I'd be by to pay later that day, I live close to the dept and swung by the house, the water was off, in which I was expecting however it was close to 4, not only did they want the $40 reconnect fee, which was fine, I was told that in order to have service that night I'd have to pay an additional $55.. I know they dont have any competition but just to rob your customers on a consistent basis is just wrong.. I dont and have never asked for any special treatment due to my service, however, living in different states and countries and paying Bill's I've never seen a business so underhanded.. They are not friendly and I'm sure their Bill's dont run as high.. example: from July until October my bill averaged $230, yes a water bill, so I've had two different companies come out and neither has found a leak, even a small one, then out of the blue, the past months bill, 69.73.. I'm grateful for that but how???? Nothings been repaired? It proved to me the satellites they claim that are reading our bills are just as fake as they are, they charge what they want, to be honest I'm probably paying my bill plus theirs.. that's why I'm reporting, Yes I'm sometimes late but for everyone that I've spoken to in this town ALL to have negative reviews of them, their service and their attitudes just shows that my wife and i are not alone.. to constantly abuse their power and system and to treat their customers poorly makes my town of retirement choice a poor one.. I hope the county gets this fixed bc it shows a poor representation of a good ole boy system that needs to be brought to attention of the state and more, not just our beautiful little town

Utility companies typically don't have great customer service, but this water company takes it to a new level of low. The customer experience here is just awful. I hate that for our small town. They really give a bad impression.
