Casual Russian dumpling spot that’s open late. No frills. They only serve two types of dumplings: beef or potato. They come topped with hot sauce and cilantro with a side of sour cream. It’s oddly satisfying. I highly recommend. You’ll be skeptical at first and then you’ll want to come back for more.

Pelmeni, a dish at the heart of Russian cuisine. This light and delicious dumpling is wrapped in a thin dough and is just spicy enough that you know you're trying something different. Topped with rice wine vinegar, Sriracha and I believe to be Old Bay seasonings as well. Choose either the meat or potato variety, you can't go wrong. Service was a bit slow here even tho it wasn't busy.

It is not my cup of tea to be honest. I am Asian and looking at all the reviews I thought I am in for a treat! Only to get dissapointed by the food, I mean if you grew up eating spaghetti with butter or mac n cheese and still loved it to this days than yes, you might like it but to me it is just an overcooked gnocchi that need way more seasoning and spices to taste good. It is sooo bland the sour cream does not help I am so sorry but yeah, will never comeback.

This is a locals-described staple drunk food spot. You get 2 options: beef or potato. Then, choose if you want vinegar, hot sauce, curry spice, and sour cream. Intriguing Russian street food.

The food is to absolutely die for! The two different dumpling options are fantastic.

There are not enough tables or chairs but I believe this is to keep people from lingering too long.

The atmosphere is SO close to being completely amazing due to the records and the very hole in the wall vibe...however...when we came in the music was blaring SO loudly we nearly left. And when we were in there we couldn't hear the young man taking our orders. We couldn't talk to each other because of how loud it all was. Also the music had lots of foul language and racist phrases and words. It was a wee bit shocking in my opinion.

I don't consider myself a prude however I certainly would NEVER take children in there if the music being played that night is on.

And as a side note, they use all plastic ware, and styrophom containers for all of their dishes. Nice and cheap however pretty rotten for the environment considering the gorgeous surroundings of nature you find yourself in while staying in Juneau! Hope they can find a slightly better option soon!

All in all the the food gets 5 massive stars from me!!! Be sure to try both dumplings and be sure you get ALL the trimmings and get sour cream from the fridge to use with it!

Our experience as less than good. I wouldn't have even rated it a star. Been here 23 years and NEVER had an experience like that. Found a hair in the sour cream, the server isn't wearing a hair net AND HANGING OFF THE PIPES while her friends blocked people's way. Ruined my damn appetite. A loyal customer of over 10 years. Will never go back if this chick is working.

Delicious dumplings | Funky atmosphere | Can’t miss quick stop

We were passing through Juneau on an Alaskan cruise and wanted to make sure we ate some great local food. Pel’meni was on our list and it was the perfect pop-in on the way back to the boat on a very rainy and chilly day.

My partner and I split a 20 piece potato pel’meni order. The pel’meni were outstanding! There is a lot of Russian food where we live, but these are some of the best we’ve had. They came smothered in sauce, dry paprika, curry powder, and topped with fresh cilantro. We followed the instructions to scoop some sour cream, then pick up a dumpling, enjoy, and repeat. It was so good! The final step after all the dumplings were gone was to take the rye bread and soak up the sauce at the end of the meal. Again, amazing!

The gentleman behind the counter was super friendly and helpful. The environment was cozy with fun tunes playing. The wall has a bank of vinyl to appreciate as well. If you are just passing through Juneau or need (what I assume MUST be) a great nighttime snack after the bar, you owe it to yourself to stop by Pel’meni in Juneau!

Small location but a great value. The sour cream cuts the spiciness of the dumplings. Staff were friendly and was a great option for lunch.
