AMAZING! Highly recommend! We scheduled relatively last minute when coming through town. Nic was a blast to be around. He was amazing with my 5 year old and 3 year old. We got to learn about sled dogs as a family and hitting the trails was the best roller coaster of my life. Incredible family memories are made here!

Such an awesome experience from a real deal musher. He was very thorough with explaining everything and answering any questions. The excitement in the dogs is something you have to experience. I’d highly recommend doing the mushing tour. Also bring your sense of humor and safety glasses.

This was awesome! One of our favorites on our trip! We stayed in a yurt on the property which had everything we needed. The next morning, Nick gave us a tour and took us dog sledding. He introduced us to all the dogs and we got to help pick the ones for the sledding. He showed us how to harness them and my daughter got to help drive the sled. He knows each dog like they are his kids. He is very passionate about what he does. This is a must for anyone visiting Alaska!

Absolutely amazing experience! We were looking for dog mushing in Alaska on Chris day and stumbled across Nick’s place on google map. Fabulous find for sure. Nick was super hospitable and introduced all the dogs and even the puppies who were not yet working! All the dogs were very sociable and well behaved. You will not be disappointed here if you were looking for a chance to interact with some lovely dogs.

The best dog kennel we visited.
Me and my girlfriend went for a visit today and we loved the dogs that were there as well as Nick the owner. We were planning to visit a dog kennel and try snow sledding around the anchorage area since we were ending our trip in two days, most dog kennels were either closed or their booking were into the next week, only the Alaska dog stead mushing company was open and we were able to book for the following day. It was easy getting to the dog kennel and Nick was really nice, he introduced us to all the dog and we were able to play with them and pet them all we wanted, even though our booking time was for 1 and a half hour he did not rush us and we enjoyed our time with the dogs. The only down side was the weather being too cold and we did not dressed enough for the cold, we had to end our dog sledding trip early since it was too cold but if it wasn’t that cold Nick would’ve definitely took us further out. To sum it all up we enjoyed ourselves to the fullest here, the dogs were energetic and fun to be around, just remember to dress enough if you are planning to visit during the winter.

This was an absolutely amazing experience! Nick was so nice, and seems to truly love the dogs. We did the dog sled tour and had a chance to meet the dogs beforehand (they were all so friendly and fun to play with). The experience surpassed all expectations and I highly recommend it as a fun day activity!

Absolute highlight of our Alaska vacation. This was everything I could have ever dreamed of and more! From Nic walking out the door of his cabin and handing me an adorable puppy, to the breath-taking ride along the trails on the beautiful property, our day at the Dogstead was the thrill of a lifetime for this armchair-mushing fan. We met all the dogs and then quickly got hands-on harnessing a team that we helped choose for our dryland cart ride, which included high-speed twists and turns and even a run through the water. Nic is funny and personable and with just him and us for our visit it really felt more like spending the day with a friend than any kind of "touristy" experience. He loves his dogs so much and his passion for them and his lifestyle really makes the time special. Highly recommended - and if you really want to go all out, spend the night in one of the very comfortable cozy yurts on the property!

My son and I had the pleasure of of touring these amazing dogs!!!!! We had the best time and were introduced to all of them! Nic was extremely friendly and so knowledgeable about all of his dogs! We learned so much about mushing! They all have their own personalities. If you visit Alaska don’t miss out on this you won’t be disappointed! ❤️ we love you mustard!
