My first Cajun food experience! The jambalaya was really tasty and I would recommend it. The BBQ Po’Boy was decent and more than I could possibly finish. Service was friendly and helpful, and the live music adds to an unique ambience.

Best shrimp bisque I've ever had. The bread and shrimp & chicken pasta was good too. My wife loved the blackened fish but said the gumbo was too smokey tasting

The one thing that bothered me about Anchorage was that so many things that appeared to be open on Google, were actually closed down until later in May.

When the original restaurant we were going to eat at was closed, my dad and I came to Gumbo House instead, and it was one of the best happy accidents. I could have hoped for.

The prices were absolutely fair for what we got, and I could tell that the food was cooked with care and love, instead of being poured out of a bag and heated up in a microwave.

I got the southern combo which was absolutely mouthwatering, and a great selection for anyone who can't make up their mind on what one thing to get.

This was definitely a home-cooked meal 3000 miles away from home!

Really delicious, never had cajun food before and this was a great introduction. Had the kitchen sink, cat fish pho and calamari. The calamari was nicely fried

I went there for my very first time for Fat Tuesday 2023. Was super excited. My table ordered fried calamari, BBQ shrimp and fried okra, and the grilled chicken wing appetizers. They were all delicious. For entrees we got the gumbo and fried cat fish dinner. Everyone was happy with their gumbo. My cat fish was over cooked in old grease. It was nothing like New Orleans style food. Super disappointed. The service was terrible. The restaurant was not crowded at all. We waited 30 minutes for drinks. We're never offered water refills. Second round of drinks from the bar took at least 15 min. The waitress blamed a high volume of to go orders. While that may be the case we chose to come as a larger group who paid for parking for 5 vehicles to have a dine in experience. People that are in your restaurant should take precedence over to go orders. Sorry not sorry. Will try again and hope for better results. Wanna give 2.5 stars but rounding up to be nice.

They were very busy when we arrived, short staffed due to the Native Convention. We waited about 35 mins before we were provided our drinks, then another before food arrived. I did not get what I ordered, but it was too late to worry about it by then. Food was good for the gumbo based on what my friends shared, mine was overcooked. I will go there again to try them out once more to give them a fair chance and see how it is when not so busy.

Tried this place out for the first time since we love some good souther Cajun food. For an appetizer, we got the chicken quesadilla that was so good and crispy that came with a chipotle sauce.

Between the jambalaya (right) and the gumbo (left) I'd have to go with the jambalaya unless you loveee okra. They put a ton of okra in the gumbo which I'm not a fan of. But if that's your thing, you'd love it. I got the chicken jambalaya which was great. I loved all the meat in there, and the Red sauce was good. I do wish they put a little more seasoning or flavor but otherwise still really good! One of my favorite parts was the corn bread! ???? SO GOOD!

The service was top Notch, super friendly and the priced were a breath of fresh air. Definitely reasonable. Would come back again!

Love Gumbo House. Have eaten their food plenty of times.
However, ordered boiled shrimp remoulade tonight and the shrimp were full of their intestine/poop track. Disappointed that the kitchen couldn’t take a few minutes to clean the shrimp.
