What an incredible find!

This establishment has all the things you want to see as a rockhound. There is an impressive selection of rock specimens to choose from. The mines have uncovered some impressive treasures. Those and other finds are on sale in the shop at very fair prices.

We chose Wegner as a fun girls trip. That was a lucky choice. There are many to choose from in the area, but the employees here, they are kind and they know what they are doing. This is their passion too.

Chris was our guide and I can't say enough good things about him. As someone who travels to rockhound, it was refreshing to see someone know how to hunt be able to teach what to look for and have obvious knowledge of the objectives. Because of Chris and his ability to communicate , we found a wonderful vein with gorgeous points. Dude is a crystal locating gangster.

You have to do the work, but he knows where to look. Listen to him.

We left with a haul of treasure.

Becky, at the front is so helpful and knowledgeable... Not just with the rocks, but she made us feel welcomed on the mine and gave us recommendations to eat in town... I'm not gonna lie, I bought more because of Becky.

You probably will too.

I recommend the 2 hour dig tour. If you don't have the time, they have a decent selection to choose from. I should have asked about all the glass rocks they had on display outside. I might have gotten an interesting story. However, unaware that it was glass prior to my visit, created a type of alure. I was fascinated by their petrified rock collection.

HOW COOL! We found some amazing quartz crystals here. I felt like the price for 2 hours was very reasonable-although I think if you stay out longer you should get a discounted rate. We had a blast, and my son found a GIANT cluster. He's had a blast telling everyone at school about it-I had to send pictures to his teachers.
The crystals are plentiful-the second we stepped off the truck I pointed out a large one to my son and he dug it up. There are some very very clear quartz, and some milky. I could easily spend all day here!

Worth every single penny. My trip to this mine was significant to me and changed how I view quartz for the rest of my life.

I spent hours here and I could have spent more! You pay a flat rate and get to keep what you find.

If you're hesitant, don't be! Just go and have the time of your life digging quartz directly out of the earth!

My friend and I had never been to a mine for crystal hunting before. We enjoyed our first day so much we returned for a second day. The staff was friendly, caring, and considerate. In particular, Lance was a life saver, since we were out adventuring in 100+ degree heat. He went the extra mile to help everyone stay comfortable and safe. In addition, April, Anna, and Becky were welcoming and knowledgeable, with as much passion for rocks and crystals as anyone coming to visit. 10/10 will return!

We spent the day with our guide Lance at the Phantom Mine and had the best time! Last summer we visited the Crystal Forest site. The kids had such a good time I knew that we'd be stopping by here again. I wasn't sure if we should step up and pay to go to the Phantom Mine but I'm so glad we did! There were so many crystals to be found here. Lance was helpful and knowledgeable, pointing us in the right direction to find what we were looking for. He also hauled the full buckets of rocks into the truck for anyone who needed it.
At the end, all of us were happy with our finds, having found something unique like a large phantom crystal or special because they're large and clear. When we were finished with our two 40 minute drives (in and out) and 4 hours of digging, the kids (7 and 8) were already asking when we could come back.

Aboslutely amazing!!! Went for 2 hour mining. Our first time. Right after a good rain. Found a ton of gorgeous small clear quartz! Great for jewelry! Staff was great! They suggested the Hickory Nut Mountain observation view-- Which was STUNNING!!! ???? Highly suggest!! Especially after a good rain!! Great time and fantastic memories!! Photos aren't even ALL of what I got in 2 hours of fun!!

Charlie and Chris were so super helpful and sweet to us! The mine is a fun ride up and the crystals were plentiful. The mine is SUPER kid friendly, we brought all three of our children under the age of 5 and they easily lasted the 2 hours and wanted to stay for more even despite the rain! We 100% recommend Wegner for a good family friendly trip that will result in amazing finds!
