I ordered the Captains Feast cat fish. 14 piece fish with fries, hush puppies and slaw. My only issue is it's barely enough fries for 2 people, 3 hush puppies and a serving of slaw for 1. I had to order an extra 3 piece hush puppies. I figured it would be cheaper to order the Captain Feast meal ($24) but probably next time it'll be 2 individual meals.

After nearly 30yrs of being a patron of this establishment (Back when it was called "Crooked Hook"), I am incredibly disappointed by my recent experience.

My family has always been a big fan of this establishment and decided to cater for a large party. The catfish was wonderful as always, but our large order of chicken was burnt, inedible and undesired by us and our guests. After our event, we returned to the establishment with nearly 70% of the chicken where the very nice young lady (whom we generously tipped on pick up) acknowledged the chicken was "Burnt Burnt" (her words) and that it doesn't typically look the way it did. We were offered a replacement of the chicken but any potential refund for the inedible portion of our order was quickly dismissed. While a replacement works in some circumstances, it didnt for us since the event was over and we had no need for 40+ Chicken strips. We were advised to follow-up with the manager several days later to work towards a solution.

In our follow-up call, we spoke with Scott (who is apparently the owner). This person was incredibly dismissive of our concerns, offered no apology and simply reiterated the store's no refund policy. He also expressed that he disagreed with the description of the food's quality. (His employee acknowledged the condition and advised us that she would place the food in their refrigerator for management to see) The rudeness of this individual cannot be overstated. He hung up the telephone in face!
While I can understand a no refund policy for in-dining orders, I would expect a large catering order to be met with more understanding. He went as far as suggesting that we could have done something to the food to degrade its quality. We served all of the food directly from the restaurant’s containers!

I'm quite disappointed that an establishment I have raved about for decades would so callously dismiss the concerns of a long time patron. They should reflect on their business practices to ensure customer satisfaction is prioritized above profit.

The Fish Dinner was very good. They were very busy my waitress had tables on the opposite side of the room from our table. So I didn't get the service I hoped for. However I don't feel like it was as much my waitresses fault as I feel it was the head waitress who ever assigns the tables to the waitress . The waitresses could have a much more orderly and smoother time running their tables and they would be able to give the customers better service if they had all their tables they are assigned to , on one side of the large dinning room and in the same area of the dinning room. ...

This is my family's favorite place to go out to eat. The Hook holds some very special memories for us. When eating out at The Hook in Jacksonville, check out the corner wall to the right honoring Veterans that were from this area! The food is always Amazing & the staff is very friendly! A must to check out if you have never been there! ????

Catfish today was fair. Some pieces seemed to have not been fully cleaned. Small about of skin was left on fish. And it didn't taste very fresh.

These taste of the catfish overall seems to have changed and not for the better.
The breading is very lacking in flavor.
And the side dishes have gotten to be less in serving sizes.
The hush puppies were not good either .

What Happened Here? Do we need to recast a different hook?

The customers deserve better ..

U have been here many times over my lifetime from childhood. It is always good! The fish is delicious. My daughter always has some kind of shrimp and I love to get stuffed crabs. The green tomatoes are part of what brings me back often. In recent months, I have been attending meetings with a group in their meeting room to the left and it is perfect. They have screens that are utilized for announcements and presentations.

Fish didn't have a pond taste, good crisp cornmeal coating. The coleslaw was like grandma used to make, fries were hot, nothing needed sauce but it was available. And portion size was right. No heavy greasy taste, excellent food. Enjoyed looking at the service members on the wall. I want to go back.

Fish is delicious!!!! People are great, and very enjoyable family friendly Restaurant. Best fish there is anywhere around. Fast service!!!!!! 100% Fabulous.....
