I, and a friend of mine, visited this place on August 23, 2023. The employees were very very friendly and professional. The restaurant was very clean. Very nice atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable. The reason I visited this restaurant was because it is a local bbq restaurant, not a national chain. The one thing though, even though the taste of the food was excellent, the staff is obviously uneducated about the difference between what "chopped pork" and "cubed pork" is. I had ordered a chopped pork sandwich, and the pork was not chopped, but cubed into very small pieces. I am a senior citizen, and all my life, barbeque chopped pork has never been cubed. However, the stew I had was very very good. Another thing is the sandwich bread felled apart very easily because it was way overloaded with cubed meat. We were also served our meals on very very very small appetizer-sized plates, not a normal-sized plate. Even though there were a few issues with my food order, I will still be back to try out other food items. Just because of a few issues with the food, don't be discouraged from visiting this restaurant. We all need to support our local restaurants, even family-owned.

Only tried the hamburger steak based on the suggestion of friends. Portion was good size, mashed potatoes were good and sweet tea was good. Restaurant seating area is small so gets a little crowded when people are waiting in line at the counter. Menu is a little confusing to look at but they offer a lot of choices.
I felt like the brown gravy had a greasy or lard taste. May visit again and try something different.
The restroom is in the adjoining convenience store and was clean. The convenience store is very attractively designed and seems to have a great variety of beverage choices.

The best barbecue I've ever had. I've been in Alabama just over a year, and after trying a couple other places have decided this is the best. Smokems BBQ is not only delicious, but also very reasonably priced!! As a first timer in their restaurant I wanted to try the chipped pork sandwich as well as the ribs, and for the sides we ordered French fries and the green beans. The French fries were amazingly delicious, and as for the green beans, they were the best I had ever eaten anywhere!!! The ribs were so darn good as well. The crust on them had just the right amount of spices and the meat easily fell off the bone. The chipped pork sandwich was off the charts delicious with mild sauce. We ended up ordering 2 racks to go as well as another chipped beef sandwich. Finally, the staff provided some of the best customer service I have ever received. I foresee many trips back for either take out or a family dinner!! Excellent job.

Service with a smile and good food to go with it! Got the Big Smokey to try a variety and liked it all but the ribs were my favorite. Loved the potato salad. Also tried all the sauces and I liked the sweet BBQ, but there's something for everyone's tastes with the different options. There are yummy cakes if you want dessert and the Key Lime cake really hit the spot

I went in last week and the service was terrible. There was a short young lady with light hair, I think someone called her Abby and she was extremely rude, very ignorant, she was on the phone the whole time I was at the counter and she wasn't really paying me any attention. I noticed she was also rude to the other employees who were actually doing their jobs! Someone really needs to get her off the front counter. She has no manners and shouldn't be working with the public. The food would have been even better had it not been for her attitude and nasty demeanor. She needs to grow up and be more professional!!!

Yo… I know good food when I eat it and I’m a good great grill master myself.

We had no clue that Smokems could compete with any major chain restaurant: and win by a landslide: we used to go all the way to Auburn for great BBQ. Little did we know this awesome place was minutes away! Will return! Oh! And we ordered delivery from Waitr. It was perfect.

To start I’ll just say that the customer service is not up to standard . Last visit I was given attitude when I asked what type of bbq sauce they offer . I can’t help it’s not on the menus that are online . On a positive note, the meats are pretty good! My favorite is the smoked turkey . But the star item of the restaurant is not listed on their menu . It’s the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes , gravy and onions . Very yummy! The two sides on their menu that are worth ordering in my opinion would be the fresh cut fries and maybe the stew . Overall it’s good meat and you can call ahead to order . Wait times seem to be about 15 mins . It was worth the drive from columbus and I got full!
