Rooms were clean and well maintained throughout. The only downside is they did a poor job maintaining the sidewalks and the parking lot. Throughout my teams 3 week stay there was consistently a large amount of snow and ice accumulated on both the sidewalks and parking lots. This caused a significant hazard for my team.

While I understand it is Alaska and the associated weather that comes with it; it's for this reason I expect them to have better precautions in place to combat the conditions.

If you're flying in & out of Elmendorf AFB Space-A, there's no base bus making it extremely hard to get around!!! The pax terminal is about a 2 mile walk to billeting office. Also, there are limited flights per week to other destinations such as Yokota AB or Osan AB. Plus you don't when there is a scheduled flight since pax terminal posts no weekly schedules!!! Best time of the year for Space-A travel to Elmendorf AFB is in the spring, summer or early fall. Winter beginning in early November is harsh in Alaska & the temps in the winter are downright bone chilling even with a parka & bunny boots!!! Take it from me, a well- seasoned Space-A traveler & skip Elmendorf AFB until the weather dictates travel to here!!!

Dilapidated and cramped rooms. If i didn't have to stay there, i wouldn't.

Not a bad location. Good for military billeting. Hard to compare to any other lodging that most civilians would ever receive. Nice sized room/suite. No heat control and my room was a little cool for my tastes. There is a nice thick blanket to compensate. There is also a portable fan available in the room for cooling purposes. Cleaning services were adequate, I'm not messy so I didnt have to test their skills. I stayed on the first floor which provided a good balance of noise control except when someone upstairs had a loud bang, heavy drop or rolling luggage. The bathrooms are suitable. The water does get cold when there is a toilet flush elsewhere. Might just be this particular building, there are at least 2 billeting buildings and from my coworkers comments, they dont experience that at all. Staff was always helpful and friendly and the hot chocolate in the lobby was great.

The place is clean, great service, and cable/wifi was good. The location was pretty far back on base and took some time to get anywhere local, but the price is worth it. They are definitely renovated dorms that have been turned into single rooms and suites, so fine for a mil stay but may leave the vacationers desiring more. All together no complaints though, Alaska is amazing.

Some buildings can be excessively hot or cold mid season i believe due to having central heat that gets switched on/off based on calendar day versus actual outside temperature. Prices now reflect average local economy prices for a room but are not competitive due to the above. It used to be a deal at $35/night and you just tolerate the lack of comfort, but is now well over $130/night. Room service and staff are on point though.

Old building. Beds were better than barracks, but about the same size. Wifi was weak. Room was kept at a balmy 80 some odd degrees or more. It was hot. Left the window open all night. Outside it was 40°50°. Inside was sweltering.
Clean room. Clean shared restroom between two separate rooms.
Shower/bath combo. Never did turn on the tv. There was a fridge as well. Only one easy access plug in the room. Bring an extension cord.
