Friendly small general store. Expensive as expected but had everything we needed, especially onions, potatoes, cabage and bananas. Loved the already cooked chicken.

Very overcrowded with boxes of food on floor waiting to be unpacked. Not sure if we just hit it on stocking day or if it's always like this. Decent selection for a small town grocer. Folks who live or stay in condos here are lucky to have this in downtown.

My daughter and I walked to this mercantile one day and found everything we needed. We did not have to ask for help, but when my mother-in-law did, she stated that the employee she talked to was rude and told her he didn't know where anything was. The staff we talked to was behind the counter and they were kind and cut up and joked with us. The aisles are tight, but that just means there is more merchandise that can be packed in to choose from. They have pretty much everything, you just have to look. We were happy with everything we purchased from the store and went back at least 4 more times to stock up on other items.

Dishonest and not fair.
Be careful when they ring you out. They charged us twice as much for liquor and would but replace when we mentioned it, claiming we can’t refund !!! We had not even left the store when we asked for exchange.
Shame!!!

Everything you can need while staying in Girdwood. They seem to manage to fit everything from hardware, to groceries, to over the counter medicines and vitamins, to firewood in their location at the corner of Hightower road. The employees are always friendly and chatting with someone, the convenience of a Carr’s/Safeway location with a local mercantile feel.

Exorbitant prices for Safeway. I don’t care if it is Alaska; alcohol should not be more affordable than food.

Store was amazingly stocked but clerks were absolute jerks. I was waiting on my girlfriend to grab some things and when asked by the clerks if i’m ready I said I wasn’t ready yet. Both clerks scoffed and one mumbled something under their breath. No one else was in line. I hope they find happiness soon!

Amazingly well stocked little grocery store. I only went in for a cup of coffee, but products are really packed in there. There is some affiliation with Safeway, so maybe that explains the good stocking program.
