The food is just okay, would be a 3star review except the location is excellent for stopping in at lunch for a quick bite, or grabbing something quick to settle the kids so the rest of the shopping can be done in peace. I don’t mean all the food is lacking, they have a few items that are just about perfect, just not everything.

Mmmm, discolored pepperonis. Anchorage Alaska Northern Lights Blvd and Debarr road. The worst self checkout conveyor belt store. Kroger Corporation is replacing humans with automation and have rude gray haired ladies chastizing people trying to scan their overpriced and fresh for NO ONE fruits and vegetables. Charge you for bags that fail. Fred Meyer should be sued. See photos below.
Also watch out for deceptive prices labeled on their products. Sometimes the digital deal is no deal at all. See attached photo.

Unfortunately I think today is the last day that I'll ever go to the Fred Meyer at this location, there's officially now locks on the restroom that require an access code from customer service. While I can't fault the store itself for taking this measure due to the out of control homeless problem currently happening in midtown Anchorage, It is an excellent reason to avoid this location entirely. It's truly sad that the city refuses to step up and address this problem, midtown and downtown are quickly starting to look more and more like skid row.

I got to say out of all the biggies Fred Meyer is my favorite. It’s a step up from Walmart. They could work on their app a little with showing you what isle the items are in. Maybe a big bold isle number. But overall I love the place.

One star on people working. I’m native and when I shop here I pay full on my items. And When It Comes Time To Leave! I get sometimes to beeper thing goes off, (well this particular leaving after paying for my items and they were all bagged in Fred Myers bags!) this Caucasian worker comes running up to me as if he’s trying to catch someone stealing (which is me! A Native!)
And when I seen the beeper go off by someone who’s Caucasian I didn’t see that white Caucasian guy go running up to the person to check their receipt as he thought I was stealing. He just looked at the person who beeped off the detectors and just let them go without looking at their receipt!! Racist and discrimination.

Shopping at any Fred Meyer is great because literally everything can be found under one roof. The midtown location in Anchorage is especially convenient though as it is right on the Seward Highway making it an easy place to turn in and pick up last minute supplies or get gas when headed down the Inlet or the Peninsula. They have a Starbucks, Pharmacy, Jewelers and Electronics, Furniture and Garden Departments (just to name a few). Their prepared foods and sandwiches are delicious and the folks who work there will walk you directly to an item, no matter where it is in the store, if you ask. Extremely friendly and helpful staff members!

Shelves are full. The fruit and vegetables are very fresh. They use cashier's not self service.

As a customer of Fred Meyer's Anchorage, Alaska location, I would rate my experience with the store as average, earning a three-star review. While there were some positives, there were also some areas that could be improved.

On the positive side, the store had a wide selection of products, from groceries to clothing and home goods. I was able to find most of what I was looking for during my visit. Additionally, the store was clean and organized, which made it easy to navigate and find what I needed.

However, there were also some areas that could be improved. One issue I encountered was long checkout lines, which made the checkout process slow and frustrating. Another issue was that some of the staff members seemed disinterested in helping customers, and I had to search for assistance several times.

Overall, my experience with Fred Meyer's Anchorage location was average. While there were some positives, there were also some areas that could be improved.
