Great place to let the dog run around and watch the sunset. Easy access for fat tire biking on the flats. Minus a star for no parking lot and people who don't clean up after their dogs.

Holy Smokes!! I have lived in this City since 1998 and boy was this day remarkable. How did I miss this gem of a park. I almost don't even want to tell anyone about it. But.... there were several cars parked at the entrance (which is in the middle of a street between neighborhoods.... really gorgeous neighborhoods).

I lived in Mid-town all those years until a year ago when I moved to Dimond area.

It was raining all night long and I slept in rather late. I woke and told the dogs that we were going for a ride before it rained again.

We googled a new park to visit on Southside.
When we got there it was just a tiny emerald green grassed area with a path leading to the back side. My dog was on that trail like a dog on treats.. lol!

It led down between trees on both sides and when we came out the end of that path......... there it was.

The mudflats of the Southside of Anchorage. I have only seen this area as I returned from Beluga Point as I was headed back to the city. The other place I have visited is point Woronzof and Earthquake park.

It was very windy and a very steep climb down to the flats.where the mud really is rather firm and ya can walk on it. DO BE CAREFUL. This is one man's opinion of his first time here so how much could I possibly know right.???

I took a stroll out pretty far with the dogs and we got plenty of pictures to tell the rest of this story.

Please enjoy.

The reason I started doing reviews is to help handicap ♿ individuals navigate the town.

By the way.... DONT TRY THIS IN A WHEELCHAIR.

Unassuming, secluded gem hidden away in a residential area. No designated parking so be mindful and courteous when street parking. Wear boots or water-proof shoes this time of the year if you want to descend down the beach. The view is spectacular specially when the sun is setting.

Short walk to great views and picnic. Usually windy. Good place to learn how to paraglide. Bring a hammock and read a book on the west side of the bluff in the trees.

A beautiful view that sometimes has a mating season which you should not go not to disturb them. Best observed with warm clothing as the wind off the arm is brisk.

Public park tucked away in an Anchorage development with minimal amenities. Street parking only, trash can at the entrance with dog bag station. Would consider the space average, but the stunning views of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge, Chugach Mountains, Kenai Mountains, etc bump it up to a four-star park. Interpretive signage explains more about the wildlife and refuge. Super muddy right now (spring) so wear your Xtratufs or Muck boots.

Great little park and walk down towards the mud flats. Amazing views for such a short little walk..

This is a park where a human can observe a moose. The front of the park is a sloped field that walks back to a brilliant view of the inlet. The moose encounter was fairly benign but the locals say to give the moose some space.
