I normally am great with our Kroger store in Batesville AR. They manage it well for the most part. However this new self check out system is absolutely ridiculous! It won't allow you to go fast at all. It makes you literally wait several seconds in between each item until it is recognized by it's electronic system that you've put the item in your bag. If you want to skip bagging then you must push that feature each and every single item that you scan! Perhaps OK for a few items, however I was forced to use this self check out for my large cart of groceries because at peak hours... 6:15 pm, They had 1 cashier working the front! ONE CASHIER! I've worked for Kroger. I've been a cashier, cashier supervisor, and was learning to do payroll when I quit for personal reasons. Our manager at the time was John Ed Smith. A wonderful man and manager! Its too bad he retired a number of years ago. Hopefully something will be done about this. I will NEVER waste my time with your self check out again unless it's literally 5 items or less, and if there is only one cashier on the floor again during peak hours, I will leave my cart where it sits and go.

I'll give it 3.5 stars. it's better than the Batesville Walmart, but honestly this Kroger is too small. I doubt they're going to, but they need a bigger store. That's really the only issue I have though. Everything else is fine.

This store is generally clean & tidy. Produce department is nice with good selection. Friendly staff. They often don't have enough cashiers open, but they have added self-checkout, which is great for a speedy in & out trip. A year ago, this store carried a fair amount of plant-based food options, however recently, they have stopped offering plant-based cream cheese, only one plant-based cheese option Daiya slices. They do currently offer Kite Hill vegan sour cream & ricotta, although the ricotta is priced at almost $11. I'm happy to see they are still offering Just Egg & multiple plant-based meat alternatives. Great selection of plant-based milk alternatives! Also, of note, they offer Hidden Valley plant-based ranch dressing & Primal Kitchen vegan alfredo sauce. If they would up the ante on plant-based options, I could entirely eliminate the dreaded trip to WM from my life altogether!

Just lost my business. Bagger forgot to put one of my bags in the cart. I called about it and confirmed they had it waiting for me. Asked if I could pick it up the next day because I live 30 minutes away. This was canned food by the way. Go in after work the next day and they have no idea what I'm talking about and demand to see a receipt to "prove" I bought it. I don't even know what all they ripped me off on because I don't know everything that was in the bag. Sorry, but you just lost my family's dinner and we can't exactly afford to pay double for groceries we already bought in this economy. Kroger no more for me, at least not this location.

Prices are high for the area, but they have a good selection and definitely not near the crowd as Walmart!

I used to love this shop but stopped going for many reasons.

Pros:
Usually plenty of fresh veg although that has been hit or miss
Used to have a great meat department

Cons:
During Covid they had a policy of letting only one person in per family which has the effect of ensuring that large family's could not get enough groceries due to limits on items. This policy also ensured a MAXIMUM variety of germs. It was the height of stupidity.

The meat department was destroyed after covid. You could no longer get nice things in the case.

Cashiers practically throw soft produce down the conveyer no matter how many times you mention it. One tossed my soda off the belt. Not all cashiers, but at least half of them and most of them were old women that did this.

I was accosted by a woman because I was buying the pasta on sale for 10 cents a box and the manager helped the woman find the pasta instead of letting her steal it out of my cart, but did nothing to alleviate my concerns. The cashier did check me out quickly and was very kind after seeing the altercation.

Towards the end of my shopping there, every time I went in anything that was advertised, was no longer available. Even chicken breast that was limited to two was empty. Dry ice? gone. You want your regular tea? Gone.

The sales got convoluted to follow and you HAD to have the app to get sale items. I am not paying for wifi on top of their high prices just to get a coupon.

It's an older building so not as nice as the ones in bigger cities. Out of produce on sale most of the time but it's ok

I love the fresh produce here, and they have excellent food choices and quality. However they definitely need to change store setup. It's very busy ( for good reason) but it's very congested when checking out or even shopping. It's difficult to even pass another cart in the aisles due to the narrow aisle. Also I am a huge fan of self/express check outs and it's kinda a pain to wait in line 20 or 30 minutes to check out for a few minutes. I definitely will continue to shop here but would love a better store set up.
