This place and another place within a 30 mile range: are eerily similar to one another. They give you the same app (hush puppies with cheese) and offer many of the same dishes. It is also is decorated similar. However, the grease was old. Our fried pickle appetizer - disappointing. The seafood platter was all cooked in the same grease as the pickles and burnt hush puppies. I don’t know if the fried pickle are house made; they do not taste house made. The food was saturated with grease. This place also rivals the movie “Grease.” The catfish filets were small and did not have a pleasant taste. If you are used to quality seafood, you might want to skip this establishment. If you love a fresh taste and hate burnt flour, don’t come here. If you want to make your step parents upset- bring them here. We went in during a slow time- and the person handling the money was also handling the cakes. It’s just something about where money and credit cards have been, and handling food. The service was decent. It was not great nor war is deplorable. There were a couple of things (lemons) that took about five minutes to get to us.

This place is always decorated
Its always a pretty setting. Its always clean and the food is always good. The hushpuppies and coleslaw are the best around these parts, hands down. The steak was cooked just right, delicious. The shrimp were big and fried just right. The hamburger steak delicious. Always a win win when you go and eat there. The staff is friendly and prompt. The owner,,well,,,she's a great example of what professionalism is. Another great outing at Loaves and Fishes

Tried to eat here around two weeks ago and ended up taking my wife and mother to another place, some 25 miles away because the moment we entered the restaurant we were welcomed with the option to wait along with around thirty some odd people waiting for tables even though the parking lot was barely half full. Frankly if you can't handle anymore customers than that you shouldn't be operating. If this eatery is anything like most, in our current economy, they likely won't last much longer anyway.

The all you can eat is a scam . They start with a cheap appetizer and finally bring you a dwarf size serving of catfish which I ate before the waitress was out of sight and she didn't return for 15 minutes and then with another dwarf serving. They just try to wait out your appetite hoping your food will settle before you can eat $2 worth of catfish. If you go DO NOT get the all you can eat catfish unless you're on a diet , in that case it'll be perfect .

Updating so I can explain this rating.
I have had alot of people to tell me go try it; it's a great place.
When we arrived we had a 30 minute wait for a table. Walking through there were plenty of empty tables. The tables were not completely cleaned. Had to wait another 15 mins for a waitress and then again to get our drinks.
The hushpuppies and cheese were the best thing we had nut you had to eat them while they were hot. Once they were cooled off they were too hard. The slaw was good as well though they brought a very small portion for 2 people. Had to ask for lemons and onions. The lemons took no time to arrive. The onion about a 1/4 of a thin sliced ring for 2 people.
The fish both whole and filets were over cooked. So much so to the point some of it could not be eaten. It was taking forever to get tea refills or more fish.
The only bright spot was the couple who say across from us. We had a great conversation.
Will we go back? Maybe, but not anytime soon.

Our Server was a jewel and she kept it coming, hot fresh crispy catfish! The hush puppies and cheese OMG! Everyone was friendly and courteous good down home atmosphere. Worth the drive and worth the wait.

Quite the drive and an hour wait at the busiest, but it's definitely worth it. If I had to compare it to a more well know eatery it would be between a 'David's Catfish' and a 'Catfish Junction'. This place certainly has its own charm and atmosphere that differ from the 2 afore mentioned.

Wilmer Alabama for dinner Thursday night on my own driving back from Mobile. Off in the country, this place looks like a boutique inside, decorated in a way Diane would have loved. Using my general excuse of "wanting to try as many items as possible" I ordered the Seafood platter that comes with catfish, shrimp, oysters, and frog legs. I changed the oysters for more shrimp and got a side salad as my extra to go along with the hushpuppies and coleslaw the meal comes with.
The salad was fresh and crisp, the coleslaw was good and a family size portion and the hushpuppies were plentiful and awesome. As a matter of fact, I couldn't eat all of the hushpuppies so I took them on the road with me and snacked for the next 600.
The fish, shrimp and frog legs were lightly breaded but still were able to have crispness. All were good but the frog legs were the best I've ever had. So tender and mild flavor. Overall it was a very good experience and definitely recommend. ????
