The food was pretty okay and the waitress was nice but when we went to check out my card wasn’t working for some reason and I was talking to my boyfriend about it and said “dang they don’t take Apple Pay either” the man butted and rudely said “I told you we didn’t take Apple Pay when you asked earlier” first and last time here

Very friendly and courteous wait staff. Food was good, typical Mexican menu. Drinks were awesome, especially the margaritas. Outside dining on the sidewalk is available.

This place is the literal worst. We gave them a 2nd chance on 6/14/23 and the food was (YET AGAIN) flavorless, the margarita was flavorless, the service was non-existent because everyone was watching TV (even though we were the only ones there), and not to mention that our bill was only $41.60 and we left a $5.00 tip, due to the poor experience, and they charged us a $50 TIP!!! Currently in the process of trying to get our $45 back!!

If you are just looking for margaritas then they are good and a pretty decent price. But the food is nothing to write home about. I have been 3 times now and the first 2 times the food was okay. The third time my El Gagave combo of steak and chicken was dry and just not good. My wife and I both agreed that the rice was hard and didn't taste good. Her chicken quesadilla was dry and tasteless. Two of the three times I've needed to send the cheese dip back because it was cold, the second trip there there was a solid mass of cheese in the dip. And I will never go back not because of that but because of a $2 charge. I've been to multiple Mexican restaurants and I always ask if they have a house hot sauce, and most do. Rarely have I've been charged for what usually amounts to half an ounce of hot sauce. But they charged $2. When I said something the lady at the register whom I believe was part owner didn't seem to care. I will not be back. The food is so so, but the drinks are good. The service was also just so so, not horrible but not what I'm used to at most Mexican restaurants. Drive the extra 15 minutes to Zapapans or Mesa Grill in Calera.

Service was excellent and timely for our lunch hour. Yet, the food is blan. That's the 2nd time I've eaten there and not been impressed.

Excellent pastry.
El Agave was open a bit late in the evening and I am glad. Huge selection of delights. You choose your own from big, glass front display cabinets. Everyone loved their selections. They pastry is light and has a bit of chewiness. Workers were helpful and extra polite. Do not hesitate to visit.

It's a small little nice restaurant. The table connected to the booths could be a little higher. The food was ok. I got the steak nachos. It was more like pepper & onion nachos. I didn't even have enough meat to put a piece on each nacho. I let them know so hopefully they'll make sure that doesn't happen to others in the future. Picture shows my pepper & onion aftermath... Lol

I really, really wanted to love this restaurant. It is on the main Street of a quaint college town that I enjoy visiting. The chips were cold and stale. The cheese dip was brought in a ramekin so small that I thought it was a sample. I love Mexican food but my lunch just was not good. The music was hip-hop and rap which was odd for a Wednesday lunch even in a college town. It made it hard to talk with my companion. The margarita was delicious and the server was friendly although the service was very slow. Two stars is generous.
