My husband is a big fan of fish so we thought we'd give it a try. He ordered the 3 piece fish with fries only and potato salad. I'm not a huge fish fan, so I ordered the 3 piece chicken with fries only and extra hushpuppies for my 2nd side. I also ordered a single piece of fish to try.

The good...
The guy who took our order was friendly and helpful. I thought the fries were great...hot and crispy. The fish was ok, but they look more like fish sticks than fish filets.

The not so good...
I was disappointed in the chicken. I was hoping that it would be hand breaded, but it was the same thing I have in the freezer at home. It was hot though. I wasn't expecting the corn in the hushpuppies and they were a little small and almost doughy. The potato salad tasted good...but the size was way too small for a side.

The bad...my husband ordered tea to drink and it tasted old. We also asked for silverware and we even asked if it was in the bag when it was handed to us. It was not. Try eating potato salad without a fork! The ketchup we requested was not in the bag either.

Just my opinion...
When you look at the menu and see that you get two sides and a drink, the price seems reasonable, but when you get your meal and one of the sides is more of a sample and neither the fish or chicken is what you expected...it isn't.

I would rather have a couple of fish filets and hand breaded chicken with 2 decent sized sides...without a drink for that price. And please...fix the hushpuppies!

I got the "Tortuga" combo which has fish & shrimp. It was delicious, the fries were fresh and crispy, chips were crunchy, hush puppies were perfect! I wasn't a fan of the potato salad, and the cocktail sauce was a bit spicy for me (I did ask for non-spicy). Overall a great place to swing by and grab some fish when you're having a craving!

Second time eating here. Food is good and service was great. They got my food ready quickly and everything was in there (food order correct, silverware, sauce). The fish tacos are so good!
Nice food option added to Farmington/prairie grove.

They are new so there is a learning curve. The fish and chicken were okay, the tartar sauce was good, no sauce for chicken and they were out of malt vinegar. Some of the shrimp were burned. The fries were good, the chips were okay (although I was expecting British style fish and chips). The hush puppies were good but were missing from our shrimp meal as well as the cocktail sauce I asked for. Coleslaw was good. Potato salad was excellent. The cups they use impart a wax taste to the drinks. We will try again when they are more established.

The Fries and Fish are good enough, but I came with a gift card and was told they wouldn't honor it. I left a picture of the gift card I tried to use. It says it has a balance of $25 and I can't use it! It feels immoral to not honor a gift card for your business. The lemonade tasted like it was made from a powder, and the potato salad tasted like the potato salad from Sam's club (also the side is about two bites of food) Overall I wasn't impressed.

UPDATE: I have now been back under the new ownership multiple times, and the fish may be even better than it was before. It is complete perfection.

It can take a while to get your food sometimes (15+ minutes pretty consistently), but it is definitely worth the wait!

OLDER REVIEW: The fish was absolutely flawless. The texture was great, and the taste was some of the best fish I've ever had! The hush puppies were good too.

The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that the fries and especially the chips were undercooked. The chips were completely floppy like deli meat slices.

But like I said, the fish was delicious, and I will definitely be back! Hopefully I can update this to a 5-star review!

Needs a better fish and chicken batter. Don't really care for the coleslaw or potato salad. All the sodas were flat. Always minimum 30minutes + to get your food.
Kids could use some extra help

My family ate here when it originally opened under different owners and they had many things that need improved. We went back after Blackbeards had been sold to another family and we were thrilled that they had improved everything we had complaints about! The food has been cooked perfectly (including the chips). The food is great. My only complaint is that the sodas could taste better. I don't go there for the drinks though so it's just a minor thing. Oh, the service is great too! My family loves the tiny swords they use for the hushpuppies! Super cute. Great experiences the last two times we went so we'll be back.
