Great pork bbq and the sweet barbecue sauce is very good. The white slaw is finely diced and sweet, just like I personally make so I really liked it. They also have a yellow slaw with mustard if you prefer your slaw more tangy.

Off the beaten path but well worth the venture off the main highway. The former Pure gas station has the charm and food you are looking for. The pulled pork and fried catfish are very good. More than enough food on the plate to satisfy the hungriest of diners. You can see why this place is in the Alabama Barbecue Hall of Fame.

The catfish wasn't great! The salad had very small quantities of onion and no cucumber. For $4.50 it should have had a lot more. The hush puppies were very good. But for the quantity of food, the Top of River gives so much more for the price. I think they could give a lot more coleslaw, since cabbage isn't that expensive. Plus the catfish was greasy and watery inside.

This used to be my favorite restaurant. The last time there, hushpuppies and fries were raw and the fish was “hard”. This is truly upsetting. I heard that it was “going down hill” but wanted to know for sure ???? Almost $90 for my family.
We have been going for years and get the same thing each time. The same meal cost us $50 over a year ago. We used to could not get into the parking lot because it was so full. Maybe things will change.
Very disappointed but cheering you on from the outside…

Horrible Customer Service!!
I had the back room reserved for a party when booked they wrote my name down on the calendar for Monday the 26th. I sent out invitations to the party! Someone messaged me and confirmed the date with me because they thought they were closed on Mondays. I called this morning to confirm my reservation and the girl that answered the phone stated yes party for Emily on the 26th? I said yes and explained I was just confirming because someone questioned the invitation I sent out. The girl stated oh we are closed on Mondays let me speak with my manager. All I got was I’m sorry!!
So now I have to figure out a place for a party and resend invitations!! Ridiculous! Lesson learned always check hours yourself because apparently the workers have no idea!!
Do not recommend Mud Creek!

Food and prices have definitely changed. The food was not good and it use to be amazing! Got 2 large BBQ plates for diner and 5 sandwiches for next day and $66 dollars later. It was not good at all. But ate it because didn’t want to waste the money. Never again.

This has been one of my favorite places to eat since I was a child. So much has changed here. As we drove up I thought the place was closed but it was open with 2 cars in the parking lot. 3 booths had people in them. It was so quiet you could hear people saying they have never seen it this dead. Food was cold, my daughter had a hair in her grilled cheese. My mom ate half of her sandwich and said she was done. One thing I noticed was they have had the same waitresses for a long long time and I haven't seen them in awhile and other people have noticed the same thing. Something has to change. I hate to say this but I dont think we will be going back. Let the parking lot do the talking. Please being back the old mud creek.

Small portions and bbq, fish, and shrimp were tasteless. Would not recommend and won’t be back. Staff was very friendly.
