The Gift Horse Restaurant was an adventure all it's own. It's southern style buffet offers some of the best food in the area. It was truly a wonderful experience for the taste buds.

My family and I visited the gift horse after some long hours on the road hoping to leave nourished and refreshed. Upon entering the establishment we were affronted by the musty and frankly disgusting smell of the place. The food did not look unappetizing so I was still excited to give it a try. I added a couple spoonfuls of each dish to my plate to try. Normally, I am a big fan of various salad dishes. Unfortunately at the gift horse every bite was worse than the last and the salad bar which should’ve been cold was lukewarm at best. The atmosphere was laughable, literally continuously blaring the most cliche patriotic music, such as “America the beautiful,” “The Star Spangled Banner,” etc. the decorations were dusty, musty and crusty, including an autographed photo of Donald Trump, Melania and Baron with the words, “thank you for your continued support.” In the bathroom there are pictures of plantations and of Confederate soldiers. This place has, I’m sure, remained unchanged by the years, only growing moldier/mustier with each passing year. The clientele consisted of elderly white people who were clearly near deaths door and whose tastebuds have long since left the chat. I left the Gift Horse queasy and dissatisfied. I’d give it 0 stars if I could. No stars, would not recommend to my worst enemy.

The building has a historic charm to it, was pretty warm when we were there so not sure it that's how it usually is or if the ac was misbehaving. Food at the buffet is very basic southern food, deep fried, and not very healthy, staff is friendly, I don't even want to go into the dried out cherrys in glaze on the cheesecake, I touched it repeatedly and it was so old my finger didn't have anything stuck to it. I will not dine here ever again. I paid $70 to put food on a plate and left feeling sick to my stomach.

We went on a Friday as the door opened for lunch fofor the first time. The decor of ribbon on the balcony looked as if they have been hung for 20 or more years left from a wedding or something. Dirty, faded, and dingy. The casseroles and main food items tasted like left overs from the day before. The fried fish was tasty and cooked very fresh. The salad bar you had absolutely no idea what you were getting. There were so many different things up there with no labels I was try to get a teaspoon just to taste because the the lightning was so dim I didn't know if it was grapes or olive something. The dessert table the cut slices were dried up from not being wrapped. The food was warm at best not even hot. And for 2 to eat a basic lunch and spend $56 bucks is pricey when the food only filled a empty spot without satisfying the tastebuds.

The food was very unremarkable. The Bisque had clumps of thickener, most of dishes were bland & the food was lukewarm at best. The desserts were very good. The atmosphere was lovely. Wonderful historic building. Our server was excellent. There by herself & did a great job.

Excellent service and food. Buffet had ample selections to choose from. Fish, shrimp, country fried steak, chicken and dumplings, lots of vegetables. Staff kept hot food on the bar at all times. Also had shrimp bisque and gumbo that was crazy delicious. Atmosphere was excellent as well. Built in 1913 and still has stained wood slat walls. Decorated for a cozy atmosphere. Good for couples or entire families. Price was very reasonable. Parking was easy as well.

A very tasteful restaurant. The food was quite good and unique. It tends to have an older crowd. I sat next to a couple in there early 20s. They complained about what they were eating so I tried it myself. I'm not sure what it was they were actually complaining about, to me it was quite good. I also saw some people leave because of the price, for witch I was fine with as they were not people I wanted to be in company with. Think of the price like how some beaches charge 5 dollars to enter. It keeps a certain crowed out .

Small little country buffet inside a unique gift and antique shop. Food was pretty good, a little pricey for the selection but enjoyed the experience.
